Assessment 2 Pictorial Report
Assessment Type: Report
Purpose
On completion of this assignment the student should be able to:
- Identify the function of, and desirable performance attributes required for primary and secondary structural building elements.
- Qualitatively describe the structural performance, forces and environmental agents incumbent upon building structures.
- Qualitatively describe the link between structure, construction sequencing and material performance incumbent upon building structures.
- Identify and describe a range of structural and sequencing
- Assess relevant clauses of Australian Standards (AS) and National Construction Codes (NCC).
Weighting: 40%
Length: Maximum 3000 words excluding headings, tables, and references
Submission Method: Online - Only digital submissions will be accepted via Turnitin, accessible via Canvas. Your Pictorial report is to be submitted electronically therefore in order to avoid difficulties in uploading, ensure the size of your submission has been reduced not to exceed 20Mb prior to submitting via Turnitin.
Assessment Criteria: A marking rubric will be available separately on the Canvas site.
Feedback Provided:
Online - Feedback will be made available within three weeks from the due date of submission. Feedback will be assessed against the Marking Rubric.
Task
You will research, create and develop a Pictorial Learning Journal based on the primary and secondary elements found within a residential or a commercial structure. This exercise has been designed for youto personally identify essential components within a structure. In your journal you should use original photos (please quote location and date), supplemented with images obtained from our pool of images located on the Canvas site under the Assessment tab. You cannot use photos downloaded from the internet. You should find images that demonstrate the items mentioned below in the content section. Next to the image you should include a written description which includes information such as: the purpose of that item, the type of material used, the properties of the material, the construction method, relevant BCA codes, etc. It may be helpful to make use of arrows and labels to provide more detailed descriptions.
Note: the images do not all need to come from the same project.
Content
This is just an example of what you could include in your pictorial journal. You may choose to include additional items or omit others depending on the construction type.
