Part Two: Creating Graphs by using Excel Spreadsheet
In this assignment, students will learn and practice how to use Excel spreadsheet in creating graphs. The graphs and diagrams are popular tools in data analysis and presentation, and in solving problems. Bar chart, Pie charts, Scatter diagram (XY), and Histogram will be utilized in this assignment.
The 474 data records (attached file) are employee data including ID number, employees’ gender, 3 job categories (1- clerical, 2-custodial, and 3-managr), current salary, beginning salary, # of months since hire, and # of previous experience in months. Student will download the 474 data file in Excel Spreadsheet, then follow below instruction and answer the questions. Please take time in making diagrams look professional.
1. Column “Gender”, counting how many males and females are.
2. Column “job category”, counting how many 1-clerical, 2-custodial, 3-manager are.
3. Using bar chart and pie chart to show frequency and ratio (percentage) of males and females, and to show frequency and ratio of all 3 job categories
4. Using Histogram to create a graph on “current salary” and Interpreting the data (skewness), more employees received low or high pays?
5. Using Scatter diagram (XY) to analyze data on ‘beginning salary’ and ‘previous experience (month). If more previous experience received higher beginning salary? Explain the relationship between these 2 variables.
