First Article-

-Dr. Harry Dammer.(2002). This article provides a history on the connection religion has with prisons, which can be traced back to medieval times. Further on, this article covers, why many inmates in America turn to religion. The article suggests that many inmates turn to religion for a sense of community, self concept and guidance, while on the negative side at times inmates turn to religion for personal gain. The strengths of this article would be summarzing the connection of religion and inmates, but a limitation would be that it is very vague. There is not much information on the types of programs, teachings, religion provides for the inmates both inside and outside of prison. The reason this article is important to my research on the connection between religion and prisoners, is because it explains with good reasoning, how throughout history religion bus been prominent in prions, as well as why prisoners choose to turn to religion. This is benefical in understanding the connection between inamtes and religion, as well as the connection between penetentiraies and religion,

Second Article-

-Hamm, M. S. (2020). This article suggests the infleunce Islam has over prisons all around the US. Islam is a fairly fast growing rleigion amongst inmates. This book shows how Islam has a positive effect on imates and prisons, but also on the other hand goes in depth on how Islam in prisons lead to many terrorist attacks and connections in terrorst organizations. This article's strength would be that it provides a good represenation of how prisoners live day to day, the interactions they have amongst each other, people on the outside, media and of course with religious inviduals. A limitation would be that that it is mainly focused on Islam, which leaves out other religious instuitions. This article yet provides excellent knwoledge on real life prison interactions, and how prisoners first handedly deal with religion behind bars.

Third Article-

- Spearlt (2012). The article discusses the role of Islam in the rehabilitation of inmates in the correctional setting. It explores the benefits of religion in promoting positive change in prisoners, including reducing recidivism rates and improving mental health. The article also covers the challenges of implementing religious programs in prisons and the potential for discrimination against Muslim inmates. This article covers the concepts of recividism and reentry into society.

Strengths of the article include its exploration of the benefits of Islam in promoting positive change in prisoners and the potential for religious programs to reduce recidivism rates and improve mental health Limitations of this article would be that it focuses solely on Islam and the lack of discussion around other religions in the correctional setting. Additionally, the article does not address the potential negative effects of religion on prisoners who may not share the same beliefs.

Fourth Article-

Focused on pg 77-81

-Spearlt (2021) The chapter "Helping Former Prisoners Survive Outside" discusses the challenges faced by former prisoners transitioning back into society after their release. The author highlights the difficulties of finding employment, housing, and social support, as well as the stigma and discrimination faced by ex-offenders. The chapter also explores the role of community organizations, government agencies, and religious groups in providing support and resources to former prisoners. The author suggests that a holistic approach to reentry is necessary, which includes addressing the mental health and substance abuse issues that often contribute to criminal behavior.

Fifth Article-

-The nation of Islam's role in US prisons (2022). Much like the other articles, this article provides a good understanding of the infleunce Islam has on prisoners. This article goes in depth on the history of Islam in prisons starting from the Black Power Moevemnt in 1960. Another strength of this article would be it touches on the topic of politics. Another major aspect of religion amongst prisons would be its connection with politics. This article provides information on why many African Americans converted, and conintue to convert to Islam. This is benefical to my research, as it provides more insight on the historical infleunces polites has on the conversion of inmates to Islam.
