Brief summary of the project (100 words max)(10 marks)
Please give a brief outline of the project you intend to undertake. Ensure that you effectively communicate (i.e. without too much jargon) exactly what the project is. Include a problem (or purpose) statement, and a proposed method to research it. Explain how the project will benefit the field of research.
Significance of the project(200 words max) (10 marks)
Why is this research important? What needs is it addressing?
To address this section, you will need to think not only of the specific question being addressed by the research, but also regional needs, national needs and international needs. Why is it important that this research be undertaken? Is it a regional/ national or international issue being addressed?
Scientific Justification of the project(500 words max)(25 marks)
Provide a brief explanation of how your research fits into current discipline knowledge
To address this section, you will need to identify and discuss the existing knowledge in your field, and the gaps in the literature that your project will be addressing. Clearly articulate how the project fits within the current knowledge, and how the project is extending knowledge in this area.
Methodology (500 words max) (25 marks)
What is your intended methodology? What justification do you have for this approach? This section should outline the methods you intend to use. Write in future tense as if you have not yet conducted the study. This does not need to be an overly rigorous description, but should show a firm knowledge of what the student intends to do. For quantitative studies, this should include explanation of the participants, materials, equipment, and data collection procedures. Qualitative studies should include a description of epistemology used, a justification for selection of participants, and description of data collection procedures including type of interviews conducted (e.g. focus groups, individual, structured, semi-structured, unstructured).
Critical Analysis ( 500words max ) {25 marks)
This section should outline the Critical analysis of the research proposal topic "Security and Privacy in Edge Computing"
Expected outcomes of the research (200 words max)(10 marks)
This should be a realistic description of what you expect the end result of the project will be. You do not need to suggest that your hypothesis will be proven or disproven, but indicate what data you will obtain and the possible outcomes of the research. Outcomes can exist on multiple levels impact on the next project at this university, impact on the region/nation/world etc. Outcomes for every possible level are not necessary, but try and demonstrate a broader understanding of your research and its outcomes. The outcomes should be achievable.
Budget (200 words max) (5 marks)
Will there be any funding needed for your research? What is the proposed budget for the research? This is not intended to be a strict accounting of the cost of your project. Provide a brief account of what materials and equipment you may need for your research with an estimate of the cost. You should also consider where funding for your research is coming from - For example some of your expenses may be covered by your supervisors research grants. Honours students may also apply for funding through the Faculty for some expenses incurred during the project, this should be noted as the source.Reagents or equipment provided by the University or a research partner at no direct cost to you are termed in kind support these should still be acknowledged in your budget (but not included in the total cost). The following table can be used, or you may create your own to best fit your particular expenses.
PROJECT BUDGET
Item Units Unit cost Total cost Source

Total direct research costs: References(5 marks)
Your references should be formatted according to the preferred method of your discipline. For most, this will be APA style. In the scientific justification section, it is expected that only the most pivotal research to providing a suitable background will need to be cited.
