Assignment Objective

This assignment aims to evaluate the student's ability to successfully analyze and apply
configuration management and testing practices, software metrices and improvement models.
Students are expected to frame a quality assurance plan for a set of activities based on any one
of the given topics:

a. E-commerce web application.

b. Finger print technology based ATM.

c. Patient tracker application system.

d. Weather forecasting application.

Task 1-Software configuration management

a) Create a change request and approval template for the proposed project. In the template,
include a checklist of conditions to be verified before accepting the change. (10 marks)

b) Prepare a table with the key baselines needed for the system life cycle of the above
project. (5 marks)

c) Demonstrate how a version management tool can be used for the above project to
manage different configuration items. Attach the screenshots as evidence. (10 marks)

Task 2-Test plan

a) Identify any two functional requirements of the proposed project. Prepare any two test
cases mapped to the requirements in the below format(you can use any open-source case
tools for the same). (15 marks)

b) Develop a code fragment to implement any of the requirements for the selected project.
The program must include a switch statement and loop (lines of code: 10-20). Draw a
flowgraph and calculate the cyclomatic complexity. Specify all the independent paths as
well. (10 marks)

Task 3-Quality management and software metrics

a) Develop a quality management plan which focuses on achieving any two standards of the
Mc Call quality model. The plan must contain the measures to be taken during the
implementation of the above project to achieve the stated standards. (15 marks)

b) Critically analyze the benefits of using the defect density metric for the above project.
Support your discussion with points related to the relationship between defect density
and quality. (10 marks)

Task 4-Capability Maturity Model for software process improvement

The Capability Maturity Model for Software developed by the Software Engineering Institute has
significantly influenced worldwide software processes and quality improvement. Critically
analyze the levels associated with the CMM model and the process areas used for quality
improvement. Support the discussion with relevant literature on how Industries use this model
for quality enhancement. (25 marks)
