Task Description: In this reflective learning journal, you will: describe two key learnings (please choose two for each week from the list provided below) from weeks 6 to 9 of the course. Please draw on the lecture materials and/or what you learnt in tutorials and/or the course readings, and/or other empirical sources and explain why these two key learnings are important for people in the field of criminology, reflect on how these two key learnings have affected you emotionally and intellectually with particular attention paid to positionality (i.e. the link between your biography and the social structure, not your personality, upbringing or position/stance on an issue), explain what insights you have gained from these two key learnings and how they will impact the way you move forward with your academic development and professional growth. You should include the following information for each weeks entry:

Describe two key learnings (please choose two from the list provided below): What did you learn?

Describe the two key learnings that you have chosen (from the list below) no feelings, thoughts, reflections, assumptions or opinions just facts.

Why do you think these two key learnings are important for people in the field of criminology to understand (be specific and detailed)?

Effect: What was the personal effect these two key learnings had on you?

How did they affect you personally? How did you feel? This could be positive or negative. You may have felt overwhelmed, excited, angry, confused, shocked or the opposite.

Consider how your positionality may have influenced how you felt?

Reflect: Reflect on your learning (Here focus on knowledge and understanding leave feelings out of it.)

How did these two key learnings strengthen, confirm, or contradict your prior opinions, knowledge, theories, or understanding?

Consider how your positionality may have influenced your prior opinions, knowledge, theories or understanding around these two key learnings?

Impact: How do you think these two key learnings will impact your future learning/university studies and career development (Be creative and specific here, you can use examples as well)?

Your reflections on each key learning experience will vary in complexity and depth; this means word length per entry will likely vary. This is fine! Remember you have up to 2000 words in total (excluding title page and reference list).
