Assessment Task
For Assessment 2, you had developed a service blueprint that mapped the current experience for a scenario, building on your Assessment 1. These two tasks are the prerequisites for Assessment 3, where you are required to finalise and present your proposed service design.
Using a narrative that draws on the design process, methods, tools and approach that you have used throughout this subject, engage and convince your client to implement your service design recommendations.
Please refer to the Instructions section for details on how to complete this task.
Context
Background Information:
Building on your research report from Assessment 1 and the current state blueprint from Assessment 2, you will redesign the service (based on the project scenario used throughout the subject) and present your proposed design in a slide document and video presentation aimed at stakeholders.
The final project proposal should be an engaging document that outlines design recommendations aligned with business and stakeholder needs and addresses identified pain points and opportunities within the service ecosystem. The proposal may include key insights, practical implementation plans and visual representations such as prototypes or diagrams. The final proposal will serve as a road map for stakeholders, guiding the direction of the future service experience.
What is the Purpose of This Assessment?
This assessment aims to design a service based on current state evidence and present the final design recommendations to the client. This task will provide you with a hands-on learning experience that integrates theoretical knowledge with practical skills, preparing you for real-world service design challenges.
What You Will Need to Do:
You will develop a future state (or to be) service design proposal using the methods and tools provided in the Module Planner Learning Activities. Building on Assessments 1 and 2, your research report and current state service blueprint will be the foundation for preparing your final service design proposal and presentation.
What You Will Get Out of It:
Completing this assessment task will equip you with an understanding of the service design process, methodologies and principles to strengthen your ability to conduct research, analyse data and design an effective service experience. Through research, service blueprinting and presenting proposed service design recommendations, you will gain practical experience in integrating theoretical knowledge with a real-world scenario, readying you to tackle design challenges in professional settings.
Instructions
Follow these steps to complete your final Proposal :
Step 1: Project Scenario
Refer to the scenario choices provided in the Scenario PDF. You will work on your chosen project scenario this trimester, using the design process and methods that you have learnt about during the subject, including the different research methods, to explore the scenario in a service design context. Building on Assessments 1 and 2, work on your chosen project scenario by applying the service design methods that you have learnt about during this subject to design the future service experience.
Step 2: Review Existing Data and Assets
- Service blue prints can become complex set a clear scope based on the project
- Draw from your research report and current state service blueprint (including any feedback) and note any suitable adjustments.
- Prepare any assets you have created to inform the creation of a future state service blueprint and presentation that summarises the future service.
Step 3: Presentation Plan
- Create a Presentation Plan that outlines the structure of your 8- to 10-page
- Consider the most critical information and evidence you will need to include in your presentation to engage and convince your clients of why they should follow.
Step 4: Narrative
- Develop a narrative using service design methods to present your proposed service
- Use story telling techniques to connect service design methods, engage stakeholders and convey the value of your proposed service design.
- I fit helps, write a script you can follow or read to accompany your presentation in your video recording.
Step 5: Draft the Presentation Slides
- Use the Presentation Plan you outlined in Step 3 to draft your presentation
- Ensure that each slide in your presentation is clear and concise and effectively communicates your proposed service design.
- Incorporate visual aids like diagrams, charts and images to enhance audience understanding and engagement.
- Review and refine your draft presentation to ensure alignment with the business and stakeholders' needs and the objectives of your project scenario.
- Remember to include in-text citations in the presentation for any sources that were used to support your work and include a Reference List slide at the end of the This list is not counted towards the total length.
Step 6: Edit the Presentation
- Conduct a thorough review of your draft presentation and script to identify areas for
- Check for grammar, spelling and formatting errors, ensuring professionalism and
- Evaluate the flow and organisation of your presentation narrative, adjusting it as necessary to enhance coherence and readability.
- Seek feed back from your peers or your learning facilitator during class time and learning activities to gain valuable insights and perspectives for further refinement.
Step 7: Rehearse the Presentation
- Practice delivering your presentation multiple times to refine your delivery and timing and build your confidence.
- Focus on maintaining a clear and engaging speaking pace to convey key points and
- Use rehearsal sessions to identify potential areas for improvement and make necessary adjustments to your content or delivery.
- Consider recording yourself during rehearsals to assess the effectiveness of your presentation and make additional refinements as needed.
Step 8: Record the Video
- Setup a suitable recording environment with adequate lighting and minimal background
- Utilise appropriate recording equipment, such as a webcam or smartphone, to capture high- quality video and audio.
- Follow your rehearsed presentation script or outline while recording, ensuring clarity and coherence in your delivery.
- Review the recorded video to ensure quality and make necessary edits or
- Once you are satisfied with the recording, prepare to submit the final video presentation as per the assessment requirements.
- For support in recording your presentation, navigate to theAcademic Success webpage, then search for Audio-Visual Presentations.
Step 9: Prepare to Submit the Assessment
- Submit your 8- to 10-page presentation slide document as a PDF and 3- to 5-minute video recording as per the instructions in this Assessment Brief.
- Review your Development Journal reflection and make any adjustments and updates to it before submitting your final version of it to show your learning facilitator the process and thinking behind your service design.
Assessment Criteria
Your assessment will be marked against the rubric criteria. Ensure that your work addresses these criteria by referring to the rubric for specific details.
