Group Project Brief: Event People Launch Plan

This group project requires each team to deliver an in-class presentation based on an agreed industry brief. The project will focus on a real-world challenge for a sport business industry client.

About Event People: Event People is a temporary staffing agency with the ambition of building the UKs largest community of individuals seeking to launch and grow their careers in the events and sports industry.

The Challenge: Currently, Event Peoples operations and community are heavily focused on London and the Southeast. They aim to expand nationally by launching a northern hub in Manchester.

To achieve this, Event People needs to:

Market Research

Opportunities and Challenge(20%)

Clear identification and analysis of opportunities and challenges in the Northern events industry. Identification of potential clients accurate identification and profiling of sport businesses, event organisers, and venues in the North.

Recruitment, Development, and Community Engagement(25%)

Comprehensive strategy for recruiting, developing, and engaging a community of individuals seeking work in the events industry. Students should show how they will tap into the community of young people (northern universities) through various methods.

Research on Potential Clients(15%)

Thorough research and analysis of potential clients in the North, including industry sectors, staffing needs, and willingness to support the development of event professionals within the context of event people.

Marketing and Communications Plan(30%)

Students must research and produce a well-developed marketing and communication plan for marketing and communicating the launch of Event People in the North, including digital marketing, public relations, and launch event strategies. The launch event strategy will be assessed on your ability to outline what, where and when things will happen and at what time to lunch Event People. Students will be graded on the production of a justified marketing channels with a focus on creating a buzz. Students should also have an effective branding strategy tailored for the northern audience.

Word count/ duration (if applicable)

Your assessment has no specific word count but is time limited, presentation must conclude before or on the 15 minutes allocated. If a group goes over the 15 minutes, information presented will not be commented upon in feedback.

If you decide to use power-point a minimum of 6 and maximum of 13 slides to support the content covered in the presentation. Your presentation slides can contain words, images, tables, and graphs etc. There is no penalty for the number of words used on your presentation, remember that images and your ability to verbally articulate is far more effective to your audience. There is no arbitrary penalty for exceeding the stated time. However, once the stated time length has exceeded, content beyond this point will not contribute to the determination of the awarded mark.
