Summary and Purpose of Assessment

This task is one (1) of three (3) assessment tasks you need to complete satisfactorily, in order to be marked as competent for this cluster.

This knowledge assessment task is a set of written questions that allows you to demonstrate your knowledge of establishing self-directed recovery relationships in the Mental Health industry.

Assessment Instructions

For this assessment, you are asked to respond to twenty-seven (27) questions which relate to workplace scenarios and requirements that will demonstrate your knowledge of establishing self-directed recovery relationships.

If you have any questions about the task or concerns about your ability to complete the task, please discuss this with your Assessor.

Where:

This assessment will take place out of class,andin your own time.

How:

All 24 questions must be answered correctly for you to be assessed as Satisfactory for this assessment task.

Conditions for assessment

You must submit all assessment evidence as instructed. Your assessor will assess the documentation you provide.

You must complete the task within the maximum allowed duration.

You will be provided some class time to work on this assessment, however, it is expected that aspects of this assessment will be completed outside of class time and that you submit your completed work in the submissions area on Canvas.

Please make arrangements with your assessor at least one week prior to the assessment due date if you feel you require special allowance or allowable adjustment to this task.

Any extensions longer than 7 days must be organised through special consideration.

You will have the opportunity to resubmit any product deemed unsatisfactory (one resubmit is allowed per unit).

If the product assessment is a group-based activity each student will be assessed individually against all assessment criteria

You will be assessed as satisfactory or not satisfactory.

Case Study Scenario

Mike is a 49-year-old man with complex health and wellbeing needs and lives with a mental health condition. He is meeting with Barbara to work collaboratively on his recovery journey to improved health and wellbeing.

Barbara starts the meeting promoting best practice by ensuring that Mike feels safe and comfortable in the room. Barbara ensures that the room is well lit, positions the chairs a safe distance apart, the room is well ventilated, and both parties havea clear exit to the door. She provides him with a copy of the organisation's client rights and responsibilities brochure as per her organisational policy.Barbara advises Mike about the organisations recovery practices and the holistic approach of support and that it is based on his strengths and promotion of wellbeing choices.

Barbara also says that all parts of their conversations, both now and in the future, will remain completely confidential unless Mike gives permission to share this with others. Mikes records will be kept secure, sealed, and confidential. However, if Barbara feels Mike is at risk of harm to themselves or others she will be obliged to speak with her supervisor or a relevant service.

Barbara explains she has a professional, ethical, and legal obligation to provide Mike with advice and guidance which will not put him at risk of experiencing harm. Barbara recognises and explains that Mike's self-determination is a vital part of successful treatment and recovery. Barbara will ensure Mike has the knowledge and information he needs before making choices that have potential associated risks.
