Title: Critically evaluate key theories and policies regarding the employers role in promoting mental health and well-being in the workplace

Word count: 1033

Numerous elements regulate employees normality. According to the world health organization (2009), the word mental health means the capability of an individual to deal with the stress of his life. An individual may work effectively in their areas of interest. Moreover, they can be able to participate in different activities of society as a responsible citizen of the country (Gray, 2019). In addition to this, providing a favourable environment in the workplace may increase productivity and quality of performance and prevents health hazards. This essay aims at explaining the concepts and plans on the part of the organization to encourage the stability of mind and welfare at the work site. In the ensuing paragraphs, there will be an explanation regarding workplace conditions, common mental disorders, productivity, and the various actions to improve the working area situations respectively (Chopra, 2009).

According to Zheng (2018), in some countries, mental health depends upon the conditions of a workplace. These conditions may involve the bond between the workers and the health professionals in their working areas. Moreover, it is found that the mental disorder will be higher in individuals who are working in stressful situations. According to Chopra (2009), multiculturism and insufficient income are the two specific reasons for mental illness. Hees (2022) claims that pressure in the workplace is a global issue and it can be explained. Currently, there is a high requirement for the worker, but they have a low capacity to handle the situation, due to which a person can face common mental disorders. There are management experts who may perform a major part to maintain the quality of work. Furthermore, employers may not be permitted to discuss the workers abnormalities at the office premises. There are instructions to individuals to work as a supporter of the employees of an organization. For instance, in the Netherlands, there are stringent policies according to which the professionals are not provided the authority to be familiar with the workers health conditions. This demonstrates that there can be a clear understanding between an employer and employee at work regarding the challenges an individual faces, such as unemployment. Therefore, mental stress impacts the productivity of employees which results in a loss in business.

Various community elements affect the efficiency of a corporation. According to Paterson (2021), the extent of pressure depends upon the way of life in the factory. Furthermore, an individual may face racism and mistreatment in their workplaces. There is an increased possibility of mental illness in untrained employees. Vallance (2007) states two types of examples that are increased need for products, but the number of employees is less because of which there may be a high amount of work in the limited time. In addition to this, there will be no aid which may result in mental stress. Secondly, the work and award misproportion are in which the workers complete their weekly tasks on time but are not appreciated for their work by their team leaders. According to a submitted national survey, it was illustrated that 4% of employees in the USA are dealing with many health hazards which ultimately cause a downward trend in the output of a corporation (Naiker et al., 2009). Moreover, to increase productivity individuals may work regularly without any holidays. If an employee is unwell and could not come physically, the employer should help them by providing solutions to their problems. The evidence suggests that the above-discussed conditions should be shared with the co-workers and action can be taken to solve a specific problem at the initial level itself.

According to Hees (2022), some preventive actions are introduced in the workplace which might help the employees to remain at work. These actions mainly focus on behaviour changes and providing solutions to the problems of the workers. The team leaders may require the support of the management to succeed in the above initiatives. In addition to this, these steps are mainly the basis for an ASE program whose main objective is to decrease the negative consequences of the organization. However, these initiatives can maintain the health of the workers and may lead to many positive outcomes. A case study was approved by the ethical review board of Tilburg University, The Netherlands which involves multiple steps that are: evaluation, preference to approaches, assumption, and expansion of intervention. The employers are experts in the above-mentioned steps. Initially, the employees are selected according to their age, gender and experience, and the organization. Secondly, the information in the form of data is collected through conferences, performance reports, and open discussions. Fisher (2019) mentioned a shred of evidence that the interventions play a vital role in suppressing mental illness in employees. There is a theory related to mental health and well-being which focuses on behaviour. Therefore, it would appear that there are various causes of physical and mental illness which are overweight, increased sugar levels, heart disease, sleeplessness, low salary, and unemployment (Cancelliere, 2011).

In conclusion, this essay has discussed preventive actions introduced in the workplace to provide necessary support from professionals of an organization to their workers. Whereas this essay aimed to evaluate the concepts and plans on the section of a corporation to motivate the stability of mind and welfare at the worksite (Van Hees, 2022). Several factors contribute to both the physical and mental well-being of individuals. However, it has become a summary of theories and policies of some researchers that no individual is permitted to be aware of the medical history of the employees. Furthermore, mental stress had a great impact on the productivity of an organization. Indeed, people face discrimination in their workplaces and these issues should be solved at the initial level itself. Moreover, there are examples, case studies, and theory in the above essay which mainly focuses on the behaviour of employees. Various causes affect physical and mental illness (Zheng, 2018). This essay has only summarized some points of duties of a few professionals at the workplace and many aspects would be better from an in-depth study of the initiatives introduced at the worksite. One possibility for further research would be if the organization started funding regular medical treatment at the workplace and providing opportunities to their employees for flexible work.
