Purpose of this Assessment |

This assessment task is designed to ensure that the student has the required knowledge of supporting exercise behaviour change and supporting healthy eating for individual fitness clients. |

This assessment task contains Short Answer Questions where you need to provide a response in your own words to demonstrate your knowledge and understanding of the unit. Carefully read through each question and reflect on your learning in this unit, including any additional research you have conducted. Please note: Where your response does not sufficiently address all the question components, your submission will be returned to you for resubmission. This assessment also contains one task (question 38), which requires the practical application of behaviour change. This task requires a volunteer to: Participate in a behaviour change consultation Undertake a 4-week exercise program (developed during the behaviour change consultation) and communicate regularly with the student (by email) during the 4 weeks. Participate in a follow-up consultation It is recommended that you undertake question 38 after you have commenced your practical hours with your workplace supervisor. You may seek the guidance of your workplace supervisor (if required) when creating an exercise program for a client as part of this question. |

Task 38 |

This task requires you to apply your knowledge of behaviour change with a client. To complete this task, you must seek a volunteer to participate as a client. The volunteer may be a friend, family member or colleague. The client will be required to participate in two consultation sessions and will also be required to participate in an exercise program over 4 weeks. Before commencing this task, your client must complete the Stage One questions of the Adult Pre-Exercise Screening Tool (in your Knowledge Questions attachment.zip). Your client for this task must not have any yes answers for any stage one questions or other reasons that would disqualify them from participating in an exercise program. Please be aware that this task must be conductedover a 4-week duration. There are 3 parts to this task. They are described below: Part A: Behaviour Change Template: Conduct a behaviour change consultation with the client and complete the Behaviour Change Template provided. Exercise Program: Create a 4-week exercise program for the client and complete the Exercise Program Template Nutritional Consultation: Conduct a nutritional consultation and complete the Nutritional Advice Record Part B:During part B the client must complete their 4-week exercise program. You are required to communicate weekly with the client to monitor their progress. Part C:Complete a follow-up assessment with the client to discuss their progress during the 4-week exercise program. You are required to develop an Exercise Program to suit the clients needs. This program is a plan of how many days a week the client will train, what types of training they will undertake and the intensity. When undertaking the exercise program, the client is to perform exercises they are familiar with and can perform comfortably without assistance. For example, the client may attend the gym to participate in group classes, perform resistance training at their gym (providing they are familiar with this training), swim, walk etc. You must ensure that the intensity of the exercise program follows the guidelines from Q7 of the client's pre-exercise screening tool. The client must complete the declaration at the bottom of the Exercise Program Template to declare that they are able to participate safely in the exercise program. If the client indicates that they are NOT able to participate in the exercise program safely, you will be required to find a new client to undertake the tasks in this question. A sample exercise program is given below. As this is only a 4-week program, progression is not needed. |

Your client from task 1 must participate in the Exercise Program that you developed (during task 1) over a 4-week period. You must maintain regular communication with your client across the 4 weeks via email to ascertain their progress in their program. At a minimum, you are required to send an email: After the completion of week 1 of the exercise program After the completion of week 2 of the exercise program After the completion of week 3 of the exercise program Format of each email: Ensure that each email is professional and that you use client-centred communication in each email You must ask the client questions to ascertain their progress towards behaviour change and the achievement of their exercise goals You must use techniques to enhance the clients adherence to their exercise program (ensure the techniques that you select are suited to the clients behaviour change needs) The client must send a reply email with all the information that you requested.
