Go to the subject outline and carefully read the assessment 2 task instructions and the marking criteria.
Go to the Assessment 2 folder in Interact 2. Select an article from the list entitled Media articles for assessment 2.
Record the referencing details of the article in APA7 format.
Take notes on the article. This is an important stage of summarising, and it should not be skipped.
Write your summary according to the format provided in the subject outline. For additional information on how to do this, read Writing a summary of a media text in the Assessment 2 folder. This explains each of the elements required in a summary. Your subject coordinator will also outline in class how you should write the summary. If you are still unsure how to write a summary after that lesson, make an appointment with the Academic Skills team.
Add in your referencing information (both in-text citations and the reference list in APA7 format).
Write your thesis statement. In addition to the information provided in your module notes, you will be provided with guidance on how to write a thesis statement in class.
This thesis statement should be placed after your summary and be labelled Thesis statement for ESL173.
Note: You will use this thesis statement in assessment 3 when you will write an essay arguing your point of view.
