The Lion King Mufasa Case Study
- Country :
Australia
Assignment Task :
Mufasa the Lion King was the owner of a butchers (meat) shop, and he was looking forward to retirement, when he could hand over the family business to his son Simba. Unfortunately, he had an accident on a hunting trip with his brother Scar and died before this could happen. Scar took over the business and fired all of the old workers and replaced them with his Hyena friends.
Scar being the new business manager was not good at his job, as he had never worked in the meat industry before. He didnt know how to operate the machinery or train the new staff to do their jobs in the store. He was rude and violent towards staff and customers. There were many complaints from the customers and some saying that they will never return to buy meat from his shop again. He did not know how to communicate what he needed to get done from his staff. Scar had no idea why the business which used to be successful was now struggling to sell enough meat to cover the cost of running the store.
The hyena staff, who didnt know how to do their jobs just sat around laughing and eating meat all day. They had no sales targets and no assigned tasks and there was no structure, they didnt know who their manager was or what they should be doing. There were too many of them working during times which were not busy since Scar didnt know the times customers usually came in to buy meat. They were not motivated to clean the store or worried that the business was doing so badly it would probably have to close soon. One night, the door of the cool room was left open and all of the meat went bad. Lots of customers and staff became sick after eating the unsafe meat. No one wants to shop there anymore and the government has closed the store while the cause of this incident is investigated.
