Q & A: ques & ans

For psychometric properties not reported, you could cover any property that is missing from the paper (e.g., if the paper is focused solely on reliability, then evidence for the tests' validity is missing). Comment on what is missing and why it might be important to include.

2) Weaknesses - essentially, this is a critical review of what is reported. Some papers report good internal consistency, yet alpha values may be sub-par. Others report good evidence for construct validity, yet the factor analysis does not support their proposed factor structure. Consider the properties we discussed in weeks 1-5 and then apply these to the paper.

3) If you feel the paper was quite narrow, then yes this would be a good recommendation. However, ensure you set-up this rationale (i.e., why this is important to consider).

You are critiquing the scale, so if there's something in the intro or discussion that help with this, then you can. Otherwise, you may want to focus mostly on the methods and results.

The Psychometric review on Connor- Davidson Resilience Scale (CD- RISC)

Resilience is defined as the ability to successfully adapt through distressful change and challenges. Resilience allows individuals to build psychological strength to handle any form of distressing hardship by rebuilding coping mechanisms. Therefore, research reveals that resilience can be taught and changed overtime by environmental factors, mindfulness practices and many more.

CD- RISC also known as Connor Davidson Resilience Scale was developed by Kathyrn M. Conner and Jonathan R.T. Davidson, measures resilience or how well an individual is able to rebound after stressful events, experiences, trauma, or tragedy. It is a brief, self- rated measure of resilience that is shown to have sound psychometric properties.

Davidson and Connor both began developing this test as they realised there were not many past experiment done on resilience scale. The CD- RISC consists of 25 items which are assessed on five- point Likert scale demonstrating higher scores contemplating greater resilience, ranging from 0-4= not true at all (0), rarely true (1), sometimes true (2), often true (3), and true nearly all the time (4). The Connor Davidson scale is known to be used most widely which measures numerous components of resilience. Some of the measured scales are: the ability to cope with stress, the ability to adapt to change, the ability to stay focused and think clearly, etc.

The Connor Davidson resilience scale was revealed to have a good psychometric tool for measuring resilience as a result of satisfactory predictive and discriminant validity. However, there are some missing

Limitations:

The CD- RISC lacks on assessing the resiliency process or provide information about the theory of resilience. The test has weak divergence validity which non- significantly correlates with CD- RISC as well as lacking validation against objective measures of resilience. Moreover, the study reveals to have complication defining resilience in relation measure, for example:
