This week our focus is on identifying project stakeholders. As you will discover within the readings and lecture, there are multiple methods and tools available to identify and analyze stakeholders. For this discussion, describe the value in understanding the various stakeholder groups and tailoring communication to their needs. How will your own communication style affect your overall communication strategy to the various stakeholder group needs? What are the risks associated with a one-size fits all communication approach?
This week our focus is centered on developing a communication plan. A significant component of developing the communication plan is the ability to identify communication barriers and then develop mitigation strategies to deliver our message.
Based on your experience in your current setting (work, school, etc.) provide responses to the following questions:
What communication barriers do you see? Try to provide a minimum of three.
Why do you feel these barriers are present?
For the discussion question this week, please review the TEDx talk "10 Ways to Have a Better Conversation" (Link provided below and in ReadingsFolder). In the talk, Celeste Headleeprovides 10 basic rules to have a better conversation. Pick two rules out of the ten that you feel would help you have a better conversation. Describe how applying the rule will change the way you currently communicate.

This week in our class we are looking at how to communicate technical information to a non-technical audience, as well as how to communicate to different audiences or stakeholders. Based on my experience in the corporate environment, I see a lot of one size fits all communication products and fellow coworkers not understanding the importance of addressing different audiences through separate communication products.
For this weeks discussion, describe how you currently approach communication in your workplace (or current setting). Have you found that your communication strategies differ from those discussed in the class? If so, do you think you will be able to apply some of the concepts within the class to your current setting?
