Purpose
The purpose of this assessment task is to:
- Engage with place and reflect on your own maths and science learning experiences
- Connect your experiences to theories of place and play
- Begin to notice and articulate the role of place as a pedagogical contact zone
Assessment Structure
In this assessment you will visit a place of nature and reflect on your own learning journey. What has led you to this point, right now, and how do your maths and science experiences reflect your emerging understanding of place, childrens agency, and play-based learning?
Your reflections will be presented as a video with a transcript and reference list.
PLEASE NOTE:
The reflection must be in video form (uploaded to youtube) and a transcript must be included.Submissions without a video or transcript will not be marked.
Submissions that do not draw on material from the unit will receive 0 (zero) marks.
Instructions
To get started on your assessment task, please follow the below instructions.
- Reflect on your personal experiences of learning, and the languages of maths and science
- Visit a place of nature and practice engaging with place
- Document your engagement with place, thinking about concepts from week 1 content
- Use readings and literature from the unit to justify your thinking
- Create and edit your video presentation
Assessment Criteria
The following levels of criteria will be used to grade this assessment task:
- Criterion 1: Video presentation (2.5)
- Criterion 2: Reflection on personal experience of maths and science learning (10)
- Criterion 3: Discussion of personal experiences draws on unit concepts using literature and theory from the unit (10)
- Criterion 4: Engaging with place: Articulating the role of place as a pedagogical contact zone (5)
- Criterion 5: Referencing and Academic Integrity (2.5)
