Blog Themes

Blog Post Breakdown

  • Each student will gradually post (in three parts) their reflective journals on their group blogs and read and comment on their colleagues' posts.
  • Week 4 Blog 1: Reflective entry on theories and models of reflection (500700 words)
  • Week 5 Blog 2: Reflective entry on the value and application of critical thinking in practice (500700 words)
  • Week 7 Blog 3: Reflective entry on using reflection and critical thinking to address HSC dilemmas and solve problems (500700 words)

Blog 1: Reflective Practice

  1. Describe a critical situation from a personal or professional setting. Focus on an issue, a dilemma or a critical incident;
  1. Introductory thoughts around what makes an honest reflection;
  2. Choose a theory, or a model, or a tool for reflection and describe it by also mentioning how you think that this will enable an honest reflection;
  1. Make use of this chosen theory (or model, or tool) to make sense of your example.

Blog 2: Value and Application of Critical Thinking in Practice

  • Choose an aspect to focus on (e.g. one particular critical thinking or critical analysis skill or characteristic)
  • Then provide an example from your practice that would be related to that aspect and then reflect on the value and application of that critical thinking can bring to your practice.

Blog 3: Reflection and Critical Thinking to Address Health and Social Care Dilemmas

  • Week 6 lectures: Strengths-based approach to HSC dilemmas
