To enhance your understanding of photographic techniques and history, this assignment requires you to write a research paper on a photographer (from the invention of the medium to contemporary artists) and to complete an outline as well. Every artist should use photography as their main medium and their major bodies of work should fall after 1826. Once you've chosen your photographer and the artist had been approved, please address all of the following:
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
Your research paper must be 5-7 pages in length and have a bibliography (MLA or Art Bulletin) of ALL sources, with a minimum of five (including internet and museum sites).A. First, the research paper should discuss not only your artist's work but their biography as well. Discuss the history, training, personal story, criticisms of the artist and their work as well as their evolution into the arts.B. Next, choose at least one photographic technique we've covered in class and discuss how your artist uses it in their work. Give examples of where you see this and some background on how they use it.C. Finally, discuss your personal opinion of the artist. Do you agree with what the artist says regarding their work? Do you agree with critical examinations of the artist? Be specific and remember to cite your sources.
