Section 1 – Student and Assessor Instructions
Task Overview and/or Description
Scenario:
Your manager has asked that you take on the mentoring role of a new bookkeeper who has joined the firm. She has asked that you send the new employee – Fred, an email explaining to them the email policy of the organisation and the importance of complying with the policy. Explain in brief the main components of the email policy that are related to the job of accounting and bookkeeping, and the implications of not following the policy.
(You may refer to the two sample policies in Appendix and relate them to a firm of accountants and bookkeepers.)
Do not:
- Attach the whole email policy to your email.
- Directly copy from the email policy. (You must summarise the policy in your own words and explain the consequences of complying and/or not complying with the policy.)
Tasks:
1. You will need to prepare a document plan for submission. This plan may be in the form of a table.
The plan must identify the:
- Audience ie who will be reading this document
- Purpose of the document ie to inform
- Format of the document ie layout and content
- Method of communication ie email
- Means of communication ie professional and following company style guide and policies and procedures
2. Prepare a draft copy of the document – include any corrections, changes or additions, comments that you may have made when preparing the draft. You must demonstrate your skills of using track changes and markups functions in Microsoft Word for editing documents.
3. Then submit the final copy, with your plan and draft. This maybe in 1 document (for example page 1 is the plan, page 2 is the draft and page 3 is a copy of the email) or 3 separate documents. Either is acceptable.
Assessment Description
This assessment will demonstrate your understanding of the processes in planning, drafting, reviewing and submitting a document
Section 2 – Assessment Criteria (Evidence to be Provided by the Student)
All of the required evidence within the marking guide listed below must be satisfactorily demonstrated for the task to be assessed as satisfactory.
