REFLECTIVE ESSAY - 'Studying & working in a diverse multicultural population'

REQUIREMENTS OF THE REFLECTIVE ESSAY
i). Introduction to report including concisely stating your own personal objectives for your future career, &indicating their linkage to the international business environment.200 words.
ii). Summarise the requirements expected of students when studying in Higher Education & separately when in employment. Use material introduced in lectures on the expectations of employers globally supplement this with your own research.300 words.
iii). Discuss your own understanding of the basis of Professional Competence specifically comparing & contrasting Technical & Behavioural Competences. 300 words.
iv). Critically evaluate the insights to Behavioural Competence provided by Hofstedes model of National Cultures. Introduce the dimensions of the model in an Appendix, &in the main part of your report present & discuss Hofstedes values for your own country of origin (or one that you consider to be very similar). Interpret your own experiences under three headings regarding the insights that Hofstedes values provides regarding:-
how you interact with your family & friends.
your experiences of studying before you came to Bangor this could include methods of teaching, learning & assessment.
Employment in your own country- this could be your actual experience of work if you have any, OR what you would expect in employment in your own country this may include styles of management, motivation of employees500 words in total.
v). The module has emphasised the significant contribution that working in groups makes to success in education & employment. Analyse your own behaviour when working in a group using the Belbin model of different roles required for an effective group. Use an appendix to introduce the Belbin model, & in the main report consider your own experiences as follows using material provided in lectures about the characteristics of different Group Roles:-
a).for the Group activity you undertook for the Literature Review Essay for this module (asb 4031) what nationalities were the members of the group?,which Belbin role/sdo you think you assumed in that Group Essay Activity?, what behaviour of yourself & other group members led you to assume that role?
b). in other experiences of group work (consider your studies before coming to Bangor, & any relevant work/voluntary activities you have had) which Belbin role/s do you think you assumed & why?
c). based on a & b above is there another group role you would like to assume? why?

vi)Conclude your report by summarising 3 aspects of your own behaviour that you want to develop further - & relate them to how that will enhance your competence for education, & separately for employment try to identify 3 different aspects for education & employment.200 words.

Appendix 1 Dimensions of Hofstedes model of National Cultures (maximum 1 page in length)
Appendix 2 Belbins Introduce the dimensions of the model in an Appendix(max 1 page in length)
Any other appendices that you feel are appropriate & that assist you in meeting the guidance word lengths indicated above.

The report should have SIX sections, based on the guideline lengths as indicated above.You are advised to use subheadings to signpost the content of the report.
Make sure the work you submit through Turnitins your own effort and makes appropriate acknowledgement of sources you have used based on the Harvard referencing system.
Make effective use of Appendices.
Total word count 2000 words (2200 words including 10% allowance). Bibliography of references and Appendices are excluded from this count
As a minimum, include 10 sources (academic journals, and reputable news/trade publications).
This assignment constitutes 50% of the module mark.A single mark will be awarded as the requirement is for an integrated report.
