Assessment Task Instructions

The aim of this assessment task is to demonstrate your understanding of the importance of quality assurance/ improvement in health care.

Record a five-to-eight-minute podcast about one situation where you were part of or observed the quality assurance process being used. Include discussion of its outcome.

Provide a written summary of your discussion of the same situation to accompany your podcast. This does not have to follow the steps of a formal reflection. Instead this should be thought of as an accompaniment/ supplement to the podcast (200 words). This summary does not have to be referenced.

Format and Structure

The podcast should be 5 - 8 minutes long, recorded as a video file and then uploaded to Canvas as a media file (see the information in the assessment two area about uploading media files to Canvas). Feel free to use any recording device available to you as long as your podcast submission is clear. You should present/ hold up your student card at the beginning of your podcast and identify yourself before commencing.

Think of this submission as a response to someones interview questions: Tell us how you used quality assurance in your area? What happened in the end?

The written summary must be submitted via the portal for this in the assessment two area. It should have a brief introduction and conclusion. Your work should be written in well-formed sentences and paragraphs. Dot points are not acceptable. A cover page is required (for the summary) but no table of contents is required. SNM assignment guidelines must be followed (line spacing, page numbers etc.).

Connecting your learning

Assessment tasks in this course are designed to give you opportunities to integrate what you learnt in or from other units, in particular: NUM2404 Transition to Registered Nurse; NUM3505 Interprofessional Practice in Healthcare; all your Nursing Practice Units.
