Please note, as this is a timed assessment it is exempt from RAP coursework extensions and PMC late submissions.
How to submit:
You should submit one PowerPoint document directly to the blackboard submission area. This must incorporate your resource/ PowerPoint slides & reference list. For further support please visit the assessment support blackboard module. This assessment is not marked anonymously.
Assessment task details & delivery instructions:
Design an educational resource (for patients, carers or staff) which explains an evidence-based nursing intervention and which details the supporting, underpinning evidence.
The nursing intervention can be field specific or generic, but it must be applied to your field of practice.
The educational resource can be presented in any format (leaflet, poster, picture board).
The resource must be delivered using Microsoft Power Point, and must be incorporated into 4- slide presentation, which will aide discussion. [Maximum of 4 slides, plus unlimited reference slides].
When designing the resource, you must demonstrate consideration of the needs and preferences of your target audience (service users/carers/staff) and be able to express your rationale for the design along with supporting evidence/justification.
You must incorporate a critical commentary detailing the process taken to develop the resource. Such as, how you searched for, appraised the quality of, and selected the supporting evidence.
In-text citations, verbal references provided during your critical commentary and your final reference list must adhere to UoS guidelines for Harvard APA 7th formatting throughout. Verbal references should be presented as author & year, as you would an in-text reference, & these should be incorporated into your final reference list.
Summative presentation:
You will present your educational resource: [Slide 1: 7 mins, timed].
This may include discussion about its purpose, practical guidance on how to apply the evidence-based intervention, instructions, or decision-making flow charts.
The relevance and significance of the key supporting theory/ evidence/ guidelines/ statistics related to the nursing intervention.
With the needs and preferences of target audience in mind and with reference to supporting evidence, the rationale for your chosen design format e.g., language/terminology used, visual layout/aids such as graphs, charts, or diagrams.
You will then present your critical commentary detailing the process taken to produce your resource: [Slides 2-4: 8 mins].
Answer individualised questions as directed by your academic assessor [5 mins].

Your submission should incorporate a maximum of 4 PowerPoint slides, plus unlimited reference slides at the end.
There are no specifications around font type or size, however your assessor must be able to read the content on the screen.
Please incorporate your name/roll number on your title slide.
Your presentation will total of 15 minutes, an this includes 7 minutes to present your resource, plus 8 minutes to deliver your critical commentary. You will then have 5 minutes for your assessor to ask tailored questions about your presentation.
These are separate timed periods and cannot be combined, i.e., you cannot use 20 min for your presentation and opt out of questions.
If you havent finished at the end of each time-frame, your assessor will stop you and move you onto the next element of the assessment.
Feedback arrangements
You can expect to receive feedback within 15 working days of the submission date.
PfS/formative submission feedback is verbal only so you may wish to take notes.

Practice for Success / Formative Assessment
On 13.5.24, you will have the opportunity to present up to 6 minutes of your work or a plan of your work to a small group of peers and a member of the module team. Your peers and the academic facilitator will provide verbal feedback following your presentation. You do not need to submit your PfS attempt in advance of your PfS appointment but do need to bring your work with you. You will not be able to participate if you do not present.
Please note no late submissions are accepted for formative assessment, PMCs and RAPs do not apply.

Reassessment
If you fail your assessment, and are eligible for reassessment, you will need to resubmit on or before 4pm on 1.8.24, with presentations occurring w/c 5.8.24. For students with accepted personal mitigating circumstances for absence/non submission, this will be your replacement assessment attempt.
