Assessment Task 2: Group report on moderation procedures and individual portfolio (50%) A brief statement of the purpose of the task and how it relates to the key learning outcomes.

The purpose of this task is to enable students to demonstrate understanding of assessment strategies, including the importance of moderation to support consistent and comparable judgements of student learning. Through this task, students will demonstrate their capacity to provide feedback to students about their learning and demonstrate understanding of how to accurately report to parents/carers on student achievement.

A brief description of what students are being asked to do to fulfil the requirements for completion of the task;

Present a collection of de-identified work samples that provide evidence/data of student learning. This could be three different work samples from an individual student, or three work samples of the same task from three different students.

Annotate the work samples to highlight:

What formative feedback you would provide to student/s in relation to each sample of work.

How you would use data/evidence in students work samples to inform teacher planning/modify practice.

The level of student achievement (summative assessment), and how you have ensured this judgement is accurate and reliable.

For one of the work samples in the portfolio, use the formative and summative annotations to develop a written report on achievement to parents/carers.

Annotate the work samples in detail (as part of the moderation process) to demonstrate how you made judgements of student learning and level of achievement. (One of the previous works and two others) Develop a brief report that explains: The evidence-based moderation procedure that was applied. How this procedure supported consistent and comparable judgements of student learning; and, The specific insights generated by the moderation process.

A clear statement of the criteria that will be used to grade the task;

Demonstrate the capacity to provide effective and appropriate feedback to students about their learning and consider how assessment data can be used to inform teacher planning/modify teaching practice.

Demonstrate the capacity to analyze student work-samples to determine level of achievement. Understand the importance of moderation resources to support consistent and comparable judgements of student learning.

Demonstrate the capacity to utilize formative feedback and summative assessment to develop an accurate and reliable written report on student achievement to parents/carers.

Demonstrate understanding of assessment moderation procedures, and its application to support consistent and comparable judgements of student learning.

A clear description of who will be the assessor. (Teaching staff in EDBED3027)

A clear statement of the weighting of each criteria used in the judgement process of the task.

The individual component of this task carries more weight than the group component. Please see assessment rubric for explanation of what students are being asked to do to fulfil the requirements for completion of the task and the criteria used to grade the task.

Task Length. Approximately 1800 words. Part A: Individual portfolio (excluding appendices/resources) = 1000 words. Part B: Moderation report = 800 words.
