ASSESSMENT TASK 3: DESCRIPTION
The concept map provides the student an organised way to show conceptual understanding of business development, sales, and services marketing by organising personal knowledge and strengthening connections between concepts.
Instructions:
This assessment requires you to produce a concept map that focuses on a business development strategy and may incorporate learnings from the sales and services marketing topics. The concept map should clearly identify elements of business development and incorporate evidence that supports the concepts with reference to peer-reviewed sources.
Your concept map should indicate, where appropriate, how business development has evolved or changed over time with reference to digital transformation for example digitization, retail to e-tail. Influences could include, but are not restricted to new research evidence or other findings, changes in societal expectations or advances in the use of technology in sales and services. Further instructions are supplied under the Assessment Tab on LearnJCU
You are free to be creative with the element of business development on which you choose to base your concept map. However, consideration should be given to choosing a subject that affords sufficient scope or depth, such that your concept map avoids being overly superficial.
Possible topics could include:
Sales strategy
Strategic transformation
Transformation of offline to online sales and services
Expanding online markets for sales growth
These are merely examples and you are invited to be imaginative with the focus of your concept map. You should consult with your lecturer when choosing your topic.
Concept maps allow you to create links between ideas, theories, practice and all the many influences that surround them and business development more broadly. Careful thought and consideration should guide what is important in your concept map. Your concept map should not be overly complex but it should still capture the essence of your topic.
Provide a 200-300 word summary of your concept map that:
Clearly defines the focus of your concept map
Brief narrative of the map
Useful Information:
There are numerous free programs available for producing a concept map, you often do not need to subscribe, as the simple free versions should be adequate. You could try www.lucidchart.com , www.draw.io , www.canva.com , you may hand draw your concept map or you may find another application to create your map. Experiment with draft versions of your concept map so you are able to create a polished concept map. Ensure that your saved map is clearly legible, please save your concept map as a PDF file. In previous years some very good concepts maps have been made using MS Word and inserting shapes.
You can only submit once, so be sure you have the correct, complete, most recent file to submit. It will not be possible to re-set the dropbox for you to submit a second time, so you need to get it right the first time- carefully check and submit properly please.
Commit before you submit
Submission:
You will submit your assessment using instructions on LearnJCU under the assessment tab.
Return of assessment:
The marked assessment and feedback will be available online through LearnJCU on the results publication date.
