The aim of this task is for you to explore a healthy ageing topic through current media portrayals of healthy ageing.

Assessment Criteria and Rubric

You will be assessed on: Understanding of the processes associated with healthy ageing. Application of relevant theory. Presentation logic and credibility. Application of the principles and practices of reflective and academic writing andreferencing in the style appropriate to the discipline. Ethical use of intellectual property.
Task Format
You will explore a healthy ageing topic portrayed in a media presentation or article. You will prepare a narrated presentation that will articulate your analysis of the experience of ageing portrayed and relate this to a theory of ageing.
Task Instructions
1. Choose a healthy ageing topic that is featured in a recent (within the past 12 months) media story. This could be from television, printed or online material.
2. Using the summary template provided in theResourcessection below, link the story you have chosen to the experience of ageing and link the discussion to a theory of ageing.
3. Create a single PowerPoint slide that captures key information about your topic.
4. Record a narration using PowerPoint (maximum 3 minutes). There is a link to instructions on how to do this inResourcessection below.
5. You may use bullet points in your PowerPoint slide but not in your summary document. Please write the summary document using full sentences and paragraphs. You will be assessed on how well the summary page reflects the conventions of academic writing. If you need assistance please seek help from Academic Skills at USC.
6. Use APA7th edition for your referencing system. References are to be no more than 5 years old unless it is seminal work. Use literature that is relevant and from peer-reviewed scholarly sources such as journal articles, clinical guidelines or credible professional or government websites. It is strongly recommended you avoid webpages or websites that have information aimed at the consumer or patient. It is not necessary to provide in-text references on your PowerPoint slide, but the written summary document needs to have in-text referencing appropriately applied.
