Assessment Three: Phenomena Indoxa of the Soul

This assessment will develop an inductive investigation based on the Arostelian concept of the first principles of the soul.

Aristotle's inductive method of investigation has careful observation, classification, and analysis of observable phenomena, leading to the formulation of general principles.

Outline of Assesment:

1. Observation of Phenomena - The ordinary human experience.

How this could be observed in society, perceived by different societies cultures, philosophers or relevant academics. Exploration into the impact and funcation of the soul on the mind, emotions, psychology and behaviour. Manifestation in individuals and society?

2. Classification and Comparison - Starting point.

Different types of soul? Different types of soul based on biology or species? Function, attributes (connected to above mentioned manifestation). Comparison of different forms/types of soul - similarities/differences.

3. Identification of Patterns - Development and problems/questions

Patterns of behaviour and functioning of the soul, seek out underlying principles and engage in discourse around such principles. Using (2), form ideas on patterns and questions that may arise. Use observations of phenomena.

4. Inductive Generalisation - Attempts to define

Formulate and develop general principles of the soul, including hierarchy, form, nature and function. This is based on previous steps and observations. Bring in other relevant works of Aristotle to inform definition?

6. Refinement and Revision - Provisional definition and primary sense of the first principle of the soul.

Collective of previous points to form a more refined definition. Application and ethics - Why do we have the soul? Virtues, social institutions, behaviours - formation of soul? Any final revisions before leading to a provisional definition.
