Purpose:
The purpose of this assessment task
explore the historical development of mental health and wellbeing services in Australia over
the last 50 years. You may want to consider the following areas: institutionalisation era,
deinstitutionalisation era, medical model of disability/health, social model of disability/health,
biopsychosocial model of disability/health, etc.
include comment on mental health policies, the recovery process, and mental health service
delivery. You may want to consider the following areas: person centred practice, mental
health literacy, recovery principles, etc.
include the impact/influence of international directions in mental health strategies (at a
national, state and NGO level) on the development of Australian mental health policy and
services at the national, state and NGO level. You may want to consider the following areas:
inspiration/guidance from where? (local/global), national level directions, state level
directions, non-governmental directions, etc.
communicate these explorations using a Pecha Kucha
Process:
A Pecha Kucha 20x20:
Pecha Kucha 20x20 is a simple presentation format (use MS PowerPoint) show
20 images, each for 20 seconds (6 minutes and 40 seconds in total).
It is a format that makes presentations concise, and keeps things moving at a rapid pace. The
images advance automatically and students talk along to the images.
Also include as additional slides your APA7 style references for the Pecha Kucha. This means
your Pecha Kucha will be 20 images PLUS reference list
There is no word limit on this task since your words are limited by the 20-second timeframe.
Please keep in mind that the usual wordcount for a 20-second narration would be around 40-45
words.

Narration for each slide can be recorded onto each slide in PowerPoint. Please ensure that
narration for each slide is not more than 20 seconds, so that narration is not cut off after 20
seconds when the PowerPoint is in slide show mode.
When you upload the Pecha Kucha presentation, also upload the following documents to the
online class space assessment dropbox (Turnitin):
o Transcript template (see below) inclusive of APA7 conventions (use MS Word document)
