Assessment Type1: Individual Video Presentation
Indicative Time on Task2:15 hoursDue:Week 5 classWeighting:20%
The Video Presentation requires students to orally present their understandings of the concepts discussed in this unit, which involves the collection and analysis of information from a range of sources - presented in a persuasive way. The submission should be 5 minutes (plus or minus 10%).
On successful completion you will be able to:
Employ deliberate persuasive strategies to encourage others to change their attitudes toward objective things in the world.
Analyse and apply rational concepts and methods in a creative process to propose a path out of a current predicament or a solution to a current problem.
Objective: To demonstrate the knowledge, skills and techniques for developing and presenting a persuasive argument.
Directions:What do you feel strongly about? In preparation for the assignment, think about a topic that you would feel comfortable arguing. For example, the topic could be; Was the 1969 US Moon landing fake?" or politicians should be paid more" or, Education is more useful than experience" - or a topic of your own choice. Whatever topic you choose, make sure it is one for which you have some personal interest and is a topic familiar to other students in the unit. You should also collect evidence to support your argument - this could be information from respected authorities, statistics, articles, anecdotes etc. Anything that you feel supports your case.
Links to the Individual Video Presentations should be pasted oniLearn on or before our Week 5 class (Monday 21 August). As we are increasingly asked to communicate in virtual settings, your presentation will be marked on your delivery, your ability to convey the information prepared and, most importantly, your ability topersuade the audience.
A copy of your presentation outline and transcript should also be uploaded to Turnitin in Word format on or before Sunday, Week 5, for Turnitin checking and assessment. Please make sure comply with the Macquarie Business School Academic Integrity policies in all your assignments including video presentations.
Please see iLearn for detailed instructions - you should paste the link to your video on iLearn not upload the file.
