Assignment 1: Short answer assignment
Task Places hold different meanings for different people. Write a short answer (two paragraphs) in response to the task:
Compare the meaning of Uluru to the traditional Anangu peoples with its meaning for European settlers and their descendants. Select one image for each of these groups that reflects the significance of Uluru to them and include these in your answer.
Use evidence from the course materials and the readings including Week 2 (Healey, 2002) & Week 3 (Haynes, 2010). You can also include references to credible sources you have found through your own research.
Due date: Week 3, Sunday Midnight
Remember that penalties may apply for submitting this assignment after this time without the direct approval of your tutor. See details regarding late submissions/extensions at the end of the Assessments Details section.
Length: 300 words (approximately 150 words per paragraph).
Value: 10%
Marking: This assignment will be marked by your lecturer within two weeks of the due date.
Preparation Reread the study materials for weeks 2 & 3 including the readings: Week 2: Excerpts from Healey, (2002). Aboriginal Land Rights. Week 3: Uluru by Haynes (2010).
Work through the folder in Module 1:
Preparing for Assignment 1 (Due Week 4).
Write two clear well-structured and developed paragraphs.
Use two images either from the TEP026 Learning Materials or from Google Images (free to use and share) to support your writing.
Presentation You must support what you write by paraphrasing in your own words evidence from the readings and/or your own research.
Use the APA referencing system to show where you have got the information from. (This is covered in Preparing for Assignment 1).
Use a formal academic style.
