Assignment 2 - Establishment of Geodetic Survey Control Marks
This assignment is worth 20% of the total course grade. Digital files should be delivered via Moodle by Monday, the 11th of November. The file should include a pdf document presenting all calculations, Excel and the SNAP report according to the template file.
The assignment is worth a total of 50 marks.
Establishment of Geodetic Survey Control Marks
The objective of the assignment is to calculate the geodetic coordinates and heights of the Unitec stations: AP1, IT and 3A (Figure below). These should be given the new Geodetic Codes of UN01, UN02, and UT03, respectively. You need to use the least-squares adjustment method to calculate the coordinates of point AP1, IT and 3A, and provide the associated SNAP data files.
Please note that the adjusted coordinates from SNAP will be different from the results that you will get from Excel. However, the corrections for observations (residuals) calculated by SNAP will be similar to those obtained using Excel. To check the results in SNAP, you need first to select a line in the Snapplot window and then click on the link (highlighted in yellow) at the bottom of the window.
Therefore, in the conclusion section of the assignment, you will have a table that includes nine rows (number of observations) and three columns (Column 1: observation number, Column 2: adjusted observations from Excel, Column 3: adjusted observations from SNAP).
