BLDG1014 Building Measurements Assignment

Scenario:

You are working as a Quantity Surveyor at 'Sydney Quantity Surveying Pry Ltd. You are assigned to a new project for a proposed residential development. The Senior Quantity Surveyor asked you to take off quantities for elements using CostX software, in accordance with Australian and New Zealand Standard Method of Measurement (2018 edition) (ANZSMM) and Australian Cost Management Manual (volume 1).

Task:

Select 2 elemental sections from the list below (Elemental sections) and prepare detailed measurements using CostX software. You MUST use CostX software for this task. The submission should include the following:

1. A project summary including the following (One page only);
   1. An introduction-brief description of the project
   2. Basic building areas
      • Land area
      • Gross Floor Area (GFA)
      • Fully Enclosed Covered Area (FECA))
      • Unenclosed Covered Area (UCA)
2. Elemental summary and the Trade detailed report in PDF format generated from CostX.
3. List of assumptions-Students are encouraged to make sensible assumptions where drawings and specifications are not clear and where there are discrepancies between drawings and specifications. (One Page Only)
4. CostX file in exf format imported and uploaded. All the calculations should be clearly provided including the following.
   1. Relevant drawings are uploaded, named and filed in a consistent format, showing the digital measurement
   2. Dimension groups are created and named where necessary.
   3. Elemental workbook with quantities showing to
      • Layer I (Elemental Summary Sheet)-Summary of building elemental groups from Australian Cost Management Manual (ACMM)
      • Layer 2-Detailed elemental breakdown and levels of description (refer to tutorial examples and ANZSMM). Students are required to work out the measurement item list, write out the detailed description of each item, and identify the unit of measurement following the Standard. Provide ANZSMM reference where necessary
      • Layer 3 (Quantity Sheet)-measurement and importation of dimension groups and calculation of quantities towards Layer 2 of the workbook.

   All the Architectural, Structural and Survey drawings are provided in the separate folder in the Moodle. Geotechnical report is also provided. A list of drawings is given in Appendix I of this document.
