Blockchain Technology Disruption in Supply Chain Management :Thesis

In many different businesses, particularly supply chains, there is much activity around the planning of Blockchain adoption. Researchers think radio-frequency identification systems (RFIDs), which were the Blockchain of yesteryear, have become outdated. The fact that Blockchain possesses attributes not found in other technologies, such as consistency, traceability, accessibility, real-time information exchange, information security and accountability, all of which contribute to improved supply chain performance, is the primary factor that makes it the tool of this era. Despite the vast amount of written material on Blockchain during the last several years, a definitive framework is yet to be developed to explain whether or not Blockchain technology is favourable for the supply chain in general and especially in the Philippines Oil and Gas Industry. This research will try to bridge this knowledge gap by putting out a conceptual framework for intricate supply chain networks in the Philippines Oil and Gas Industry.

To do this, we will first determine the supply-chain methodologies of the oil and gas sectors worldwide and in the Philippines. Then we empirically investigate the influence that these supply-chain methodologies have on business performance efficiency.
