Summary

Assessment 3 evaluates BIM knowledgeand software skills concerning the delivery stageof construction projects. In addition to software skills gained from the tutorials, students willundertake research to complete this assessment. Students will use Autodesk Revit (2020 orlater) and Autodesk Navisworks (2023 or later) to illustrate their skills on design changes, 3Dcoordinationand4D(timeintegration)and5D(costintegration)modelling.Inadditiontodigitalskill development, it is expected that students will understand the benefits and challenges ofBIM compared to traditional project delivery.

Question 1(50marks)

This part focuses on students information management and communication skills using Revit. Assume that you are an architect. Your client Matt Smith is a new property developer and hasrequestedyourassistancewithestimatingthepreliminarycostofa 4x2doublestorydwelling. The EIRs are provided to you and as below:

Matt wants the preliminary design in Revit 2020 (or later). All EIRs must be extracted directly from the preliminary design authoring model, expect the referenceinformation that the preliminary cost of the house (for all areas)must be based onthe rate of AUD 2320persquaremeter.Theclienthasinformedyou thattheroom sizemustbeLOD200.

   3. Revised room area schedule

Your submission must include the outcomes from Steps 3 and 4. The files must be named followingthenamingconventionrecommendedbytheUKNationalAnnextoISO19650(seeFigure 1).

In DataSet.Zip, find the Architectural, Structural, and MEP design of a conference hall insidethe folder entitled: Question 2. The files are provided to you as NWC files.

YouaredetectingclashesbetweennumerousSystemTypesavailableintheMEPmodel and the Structural model. Clash reports must be sent to the appropriatedesigner (relevant system type engineer or structural engineer) as HTML files tofacilitate design amendments. Following the detailed process map above, complete clashmanagement(i.e., design tests andmanaging results)usingClash Detective.Use "Hard Clash" as the Clash Type.

You must submit

1. The NWD file which includes the federated model and the Clash Detective exercise
2. Clash reports as HTML files
