Module Description
The core concepts that have been covered up in this module relate to the strategical aspects of the company. The learners will be able to understand about the strategic management and various skills that are required by a leader or the top-level management in order to attain the vision and mission of the firm. This module is focused giving enough knowledge to the learners about the strategy formulation and implementation process. Furthermore, it is also focused on various changes that an organization can bring in based on the current market situations. These changes are inevitable and hence the module will prepare the learner with choosing the right types of leaders to implement right strategies in the times of changes.
Learning Outcomes
LO1:Define "Strategic Management" and discuss how knowledge and skills in leadership and strategic management support the creation and achievement of organisational vision and strategy.
LO2:Evaluate the significance of strategy when initiating effective change management in an organisation. Furthermore, analyse the impact of strategy on leadership and human behaviour in the organisation.
Expectations
- Materials Access
All learning materials are provided in the form of a module kit and can be accessed from the Learning Management system (LMS)
- Learning Hours
Students need to be aware of their commitment requirements regarding study time. To give you an indication of that, we have based the following information on the Malta Higher Education Quality Assurance Agency guidelines. The notional learning hours associated with qualifications, programmes and individual units of study are based on a broad agreement across institutions that students can expect to spend 10 hours learning on average in order to gain one academic credit unit (QAA 2006).
- Re-sit
If you do not secure a pass when calculated from both the assignments, please read closely the feedback and speak with your Course leader(s) or faculty. After consulting the feedback, close attention is essential to rework on the areas of weakness, and then resubmit the work at the next opportunity. As per the QAA requirements, only one REDO is allowed where the marks will be capped at a Pass.
- Plagiarism
All forms of plagiarism are taken seriously, and any suspected cases will be investigated thoroughly. If a case is found proven, then the work will be graded as a failure and the case will be reviewed by the academic committee.The assessment team checks the Turnitin before the evaluation of the assignment is undertaken.
- Student appeals
There are no re-evaluations as the marks are graded and internally verified before release for both the assignments. However, as per our appeals policy, a student can make an appeal to the course leader which will be then reviewed by the academic committee (please check our academic policies and procedures manual for more information)
- Assignment submission extensions
Students can apply for extensions via the LMS based on extenuating circumstances (if any) with evidence (proof) as per our extensions policy.
General Guidelines
- Complete the To be filled by the student section in the cover page.
- Both the assignments must be submitted as an electronic document in required format via the LMS
- There are no criteria for PPT as you can be as creative as possible. For the word document Use 12 Times New Roman script with 1.5 spacing between lines.
- The results are declared only if the student has met the mandatory attendance requirement of 75% and/or minimum 50 % under extenuating circumstances approved and ratified by the academic committee and the examination board.
- The students have to submit bothFormative and Summative Assignments to score a minimum of 60%to clear the module.
- The assignment should not contain any contents with references cited from websites such as ukessays.com, styudymode.com, slideshare.net, scribd.com, Wikipedia but should contain references/citations from credible academic journal and articles.
- Submit the assignment on the LMS with the file name being: First Name Last Name _ Module Abbreviation_Type of assignment. For example: John Smith_IBE_Formative

Scenario:
You are required to choose any organisation, which you are working with or are familiar about (preferably a multinational company which has operations in several countries).
Assume that there is a leadership position opened up and you are interested in applying for the same. As a part of screening the organization wants you to provide a presentation as an initial submission talking about the basics of the organization and leadership. As soon as initial screening is done, you are required to submit a report that will make the organization become more confident in you and a combination of the presentation and report will help the committee decide about the offer for you.
