Task

Your report should cover the following:

  1. Three changes that will impact project management over the next 20 years.
  2. How these changes will influence the way project teams will be managed in the future to support successful project outcomes.
  3. The new/different knowledge, skills and attributes (KSAs) project team leaders will require in 2030-2040?
  4. How these KSAs might be developed to ensure a sustainable project management career in your current/chosen future industry and successful project outcomes for the organisations you work within?

Target audience and industry

Your report is being written for executive management so the language you use should be suitable for this audience. Your report should be professionally presented, using grammar, expression, spelling, punctuation and layout suitable for use in a business setting.

Your report should be written in a persuasive manner so you convince management that your recommended approach should be adopted within your organisation.

Your report should be positioned within your current industry or, if you hope to move to another industry in the future, in the industry you wish to enter in the future. Your literature should specifically address views of how project management is changing and is predicted to change in the future and how this will impact on managing project teams.

Literature

You must use a minimum of ten peer reviewed articles, at least six of which you have sourced yourself through the university library. All literature used should have been published within the last five years. In addition to the peer reviewed literature, you may also include publications from reliable sources, e.g., peak professional bodies or government departments.

You are to state and argue your case by drawing on relevant course readings and articles you have located through your own research, using the university library. Peer reviewed literature is to be used to describe the changes taking place in organisations and teams today, and those predicted for the future. You should describe the aspects of managing teams within this new environment that will require new and different knowledge, skills and attitudes (KSAs) of project managers. Then, using the literature, you are to suggest ways in which those new KSAs might be developed. All literature used should be cited in the body of the report and listed, using RMIT Harvard referencing style, on the reference list included as the final section of your report.

The International Journal of Project Management, the Project Management Journal and the International Journal of Managing Projects in Business may provide a good starting point for your literature search, however organisational behaviour and general management journals may also be a good source of suitable articles.
