Task One and Two: Directorial Pitch

Working in role as director you are to present a multimodal pitch, combining spoken word with a digital presentation. You are to describe how the chosen Shakespeare text will be transformed into a Contemporary performance, addressing the needs of a 21st century audience. In creating your pitch, you may edit, reframe and re- sequence the text, but the text cannot be rewritten. You may use an excerpt/s of the text to justify and evaluate your dramatic choices in reframing key moment/s, ensuring that the focus is on transforming the play as a whole.

Your presentation must do the following:

• apply digital literacy skills by combining spoken word with a digital visual presentation to communicate dramatic ideas
• demonstrate how the elements of drama will be manipulated to transform a selected Shakespeare text
• apply and structure dramatic languages to make clear the relationship between text, purpose, context and dramatic meaning in the vision
• evaluate and justify the use of the dramatic languages against stated purpose and dramatic meaning

In your response you should also consider visual elements such as stage design, costume and lighting.

Task Three and Four: Performance of Chosen Pitch

As a group or individual, you will enact a portion of the text using contemporary performance conventions inspired by a chosen directorial pitch.

To complete this task, you must:

• select an appropriate section of script (ensure that the performance time meets the 2-3-minute length requirement and each group member has an equal number of lines and stage time).
• interpret purpose and context within the chosen text using the skills of acting (Including movement, volce, working with stagecraft and working as an ensemble) to communicate dramatic meaning.
• use provided class time to rehearse, polish, and refine the performance (the draft and final performance will be recorded).
• include costumes, props and lighting and sound.
