Data Science Student Placement Report

You must submit a written report and portfolio of evidence of your placement that covers the learning outcomes seen below. This must include monthly learning logs (each have their own submission each month), reviews and employer/sponsor

Report

At the end of the placement, you will submit a report which claims achievement of the learning objectives through the evidence collected.

This will be used to measure the SUCCESS aspect of the assessment. The report will be supported by the portfolio of evidence and considerable reference will be made to the portfolio in the body of the report.

All sections should be typed in double line spacing except for the synopsis which should be single spaced. The length of the report will vary but should not be more than 25 sides of A4 (this is an absolute maximum - the portfolio has no size limit but you should be sensible about the amount of evidence you submit). All pages except the cover should be numbered.

Cover Sheet:

Contains Title, Name, programme Title and Date

Synopsis:

Not more than 500 words. A concise statement briefly describing the placement and summarizing the outcomes.

Contents:

Listing all the main headings and sub headings with page numbers.

Introduction:

A description in general of the company, your role within the organization and the work carried out.

Project(s):

A description of the major projects or activities undertaken.

Learning Goals and Outcomes:

A list of each of the skills in the learning contract and a discussion as to whether the skill was achieved by the project work, supported by evidence from the portfolio. Each claim as to the achievement of a skill must have supporting items of evidence in the appendices. In cases where it has not been possible to achieve a particular skill, the reasons must be clearly explained in the discussion.

Appraisal:

An appraisal of the work experience bringing in your personal feelings about how the whole year has been.

Conclusion:

A brief summary of the achievements and a view as to the overall success of the placement.
