Assessment overview The objective of this assessment is to assess your knowledge and performance as would be required to design, implement and evaluate the curriculum to foster children’s learning and development.
Assessment conditions Skills must be demonstrated in a regulated education and care service. In addition, simulations and scenarios must be used where the full range of contexts and situations cannot be provided in the workplace or may occur only rarely. These are situations relating to emergency or unplanned procedures where assessment in these circumstances would be unsafe or is impractical. Simulated assessment environments must simulate the real-life working environment where these skills and knowledge would be performed, with all the relevant equipment and resources of that working environment.

Instructions for this assessmentThis assessment is in three parts:
Part 1 – Planning the program
Part 2 – Design, implement and evaluate curriculum
Part 3 – Provide Attendance Log
You are required to gather information from stakeholders and your own observations. You will identify opportunities and goals that will be considered in your future planning. Planning the program (Part 1) will take place in the first half of work placement and you should allow 3-5 days in your calendar. These tasks will need to be completed before the program implementation week. Design, implement and evaluate curriculum (Part 2) will take place in the second half of work placement and you should allow 5 days in your calendar.
Provide Attendance Log (Part 3) is ongoing.
Implementation and any consultations required for the development and design of the program are to take place in a regulated education and care service during work placement hours or hours of normal attendance at a service. The written component of the assessment should be completed outside of work placement hours so as not to impact on student engagement with children and service educators. Detailed instruction for each assessment part is contained at the beginning of each assessment part and include.
