EDU20002:Mathematics in Practice Assessment
- Country :
Australia
This assignment task requires you to create a teaching resource that is focused on facilitating learning in one of the following focus areas:
- Statistics and Probability (e.g. data representation and interpretation).
- Measurement and Geometry (e.g. shape or location and transformation).
This assignment is split into three parts:
Part 1: Resource
A learning resource is something that you can take into the classroom or early childhood setting and use as a tool for teaching that particular mathematical concept. Your resource should:
- be handmade and classroom-ready be made from recycled materials.
- be suitable for a play-based pedagogical approach to mathematics.
Part 2: ICT-based introduction (500 words)
Part 2 of your assignment needs to include an ICT- based introduction explaining to the children how to use the resource. Think about how you would Introduce a new resource into the teaching and learning environment. You can be creative in how you choose to present your introduction.
Your introduction might be in the form of a YouTube video, a Prezi, or a book that you have created using PowerPoint.
The ICT-based introduction should:
- be directly related to the resource
- highlight the mathematics that the resource will focus on
- explain how the resource can be used to explore the mathematics.
The ICT-based introduction is for the children, so remember that it should be child-friendly.
Part 3: Written piece (1000 words)
Part 3 should be a 1000-word written justification that explains:
- why your resource is effective in teaching vour chosen area (linked to research.Part 3: Written piece (1000 words) why your resource is effective in teaching your chosen area (linked to research, curriculum and course materials) and how it is suitable for a play-based pedagogical approach
- how the ICT-based introduction will scaffold engagement with the resource and enhance the mathematical potential of the resource
- how you will assess children's learning.
