Assessment Task 1
Write a paper that evaluates the multiple ways of knowing or (MWoK) model from the perspective of the contemporary theories of knowing and learning examined in this subject. Your paper will be assessed using the following criteria: How well it
- Evaluates the adequacy of the breadth of the model in covering the relevant aspects of knowledge.. Key questions you would probably examine are: To what extent do other theories support this range of ways of knowing? Are there ways of knowing you identified in your reading and study that are not mentioned in the MWoK? You can include your recommendations for modifying or improving the model or for replacing it.
- Evaluates the proposed way in which the ways of knowing operate; the concept of being networked, that is, each way of knowing is linked with the other ways in networks. To what extent do other theories propose that the ways in which we know are linked in networks and interact during knowing and learning?
- Evaluates its usefulness in explaining students how students know and learn in the classroom. Evaluate how well the model describes the thinking space (that is, short term working memory) and long term memory. To what extent do other theories support this MWoK conception?
- Identifies and evaluates how useful the MWoK is in unpacking and understanding learning problems and issues. This includes your analysis of the value of the model for interpreting classroom challenges and barriers to optimal student learning. Are there learning problems and issues you encountered in your reading and study that are not mentioned in the MWoK? What improvements would you make to MWoK to improve its usefulness here?
- presents the topic; your organization of ideas, coherence and fluency, the extent to which you have demonstrated acceptable presentation. All references used should be cited correctly in a Reference section.
