Establish Career Goals Assessment
Students must complete the SMART career goal template for this assessment and write a reflection (500 words).
This assessment aims to develop a realistic long-term career goal using the SMART template –
a career planning workshop will be run during the tutorials to help students prepare for this assessment.
SMART template SMART is a tool that can help students develop manageable long-term goals, in this case, career goals.
The SMART template should include a clear long-term career goal.
The template should address all SMART components (i.e., specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and timely) and answer all relevant questions for each element.
Students should use the template provided on the subject Interact2 site.
After completing the template, students should write a reflection, which should include a minimum of two citations, covering:
- the value of the SMART process for developing career goals;
- identify significant personal challenges impacting achievement of career goals;
- personal strategies that identify context and resources that can help to accomplish the career goal in a specific timeframe;
- a brief reflective discussion about how ‘grit’ can play a role in helping to achieve the career goal;
- draw conclusions that summarise a pathway to the achievement of career goals. For more information on how to write a reflection,
