Item 1:

Event Analysis Report

Research and evaluate an event of your own choice by a real organisation (an online or off-line event), then write a report. The event must have been run within the last 12months (July 2021-July 2022).

Your report should provide the following, with the text in bold being utilized as the section headers in the Report. A cover page should be used, as should a Table of Contents.

Submit an electronic copy of the assessment via the Blackboard digital drop-box. The student name and student number should be on the Report cover page.

The marking sheet that presents the dimensions that will be assessed is included towards the end of this document.

Item 2

Sponsorship Proposal Report

With a partner select an Australian professional association from the list below and write a proposal intended to attract sponsorship (financial or otherwise) for an event being run by your chosen professional association.

  1. Public Relations Institute of Australia

  2. Australian Institute of Management

  3. Australian Marketing Institute

  4. Australian Human Resources Institute

  5. Financial Services Institute of Australasia

  6. Communications Council

  7. International Advertising Association

  8. Media Federation

  9. Research Society

Assume you both work for your chosen professional association and have both been tasked to identify and approach four possible organizations to sponsor an event being run by your association. The event could be the professional association’s annual conference, or a completely different event run for members and/or ‘publics’. Check the professional association’s calendar of events on their website for the current 12-month period, or else you can innovate an event for the professional association (providing this makes good sense for the association). Your approach to the four possible organizations is in the form of a formal Proposal. No doubt you would also meet with each of the organizations to ‘pitch’ to them that it would be a good idea to be a sponsor of your event. However, this aspect is excluded from the assignment task. The sponsorship could be money or in kind (or a combination of the two).  Your Proposal is the key document intended to inform them about your event, and why sponsoring it would be a really good idea!

Your report should provide the following, with the text in bold being utilized as the section headers in the Proposal. A cover page should be used, as should a Table of Contents. See overleaf.

One student in each pair must

submit an electronic copy of the pair assessment via the Blackboard digital drop-box. Only one submission for both students. Both student names and student numbers should be on the Report cover page.

The marking sheet that presents the dimensions that will be assessed is included towards the end of this document.

ITEM3

Event Proposal Report

Form a group of six students and innovate an event to be held by the University of Notre Dame in 2022. This should be an event that has not been held before. Write a proposal intended to convince upper management of the university to endorse, finance, and use its personnel to run the event, in conjunction with your event management company. Assume that all members of your group work at your event management company, and that the company would like to acquire the University of Notre Dame as a client. Hence your Proposal should aim to convince the university about the merits of your proposed event, and your professional credentials as a co-partner. It needs to be as realistic as possible.

All group members should brainstorm ideas for the new event, and once an idea is agreed upon, this should be discussed with the course facilitator. After this the idea can be developed into a formal event concept. The event concept needs to be able to be described in the form of three or four event concept boards. After this, two students in your group should work on the strategic aspects, two should work on the event activities and two should work on the marketing and promotions. The whole group needs to work closely together on the event idea, and then developing the event concept. Careful sequencing is then required with the strategy pair developing the strategy, and then fully briefing the event activities pair, then developing the event activities, and then fully briefing the marketing and promotion pair who then develop these aspects. The group needs to reconvene to assemble the Proposal, ensuring that it is a convincing pitch to the University of Notre Dame, and that it reflects well on the professionalism of your event marketing company (an existing company, or a hypothetical one).

The detailed Proposal should be in the form of a detailed written report (worth 25%), while the fundamental of the Proposal should be presented in the form of a 10-minute Power Point presentation (worth 5%). The latter will be presented to the class in Week 13. All group members must contribute to the presentation. A Peer Group Evaluation Form will be posted to Blackboard.

Your report should provide the following, with the text in bold being utilized as the section headers in the Proposal. A cover page should be used, as should a Table of Contents. Your Power Point presentation should also be based on the following, though with briefer coverage (just the fundamentals), in order to fit within the 10 minute’s running time.

A single nominated student in each group must submit an electronic copy of the group assessment (Proposal and the Presentation) via the Blackboard digital drop-box. Only one submission for the whole group. All group members names and student numbers should be on both the Report and Presentation cover pages.

The marking sheet that presents the dimensions that will be assessed is included towards the end of this document.

  Item 4

Class Participation (Individual)

You are required to attend and participate in all classes for this unit, including answering the tutorial questions, participate equally in group work, and participate in the Q&A for the Assignment 3 Presentations. Quality as well as quantity of participation are important, though ultimately the former is more important than the latter.
