External flow over a Heated Wedge with UWT Boundary condition Assignment
- Country :
Australia
Solve steady 2-D laminar forced incompressible boundary layer flow on a heated isothermal (2.0) wedge for Pr-0.7 Solve using similarity solution method. Solve the transformed B.L. equation (set of ODEs, not PDE) using whatever numerical method you like. Ok to use MATLAB "canned" program (but modified for wedge flow), or use R-K integration code (listed in Appendix C of Viscous Flow by White) and following the shooting scheme algorithm detailed in lecture 11 & 12 of Dr K's notes. This problem is casy to solve on any PC.
This project is an individual assignment (i.e. not team project) and with progressively more results being needed, to earn a better grade, which includes a mini (typed) write-up regarding the effect of wedge angle, and the effect of the BSP. The main focus of this project is to regenerate for yourself the prior published similarity solutions results, for special case of isothermal flat plate, isothermal heated wedge (m-0, 1/3, 1), and finally isothermal heated wedge with blowing and suction (BSP +0.5, +0.25, 0, -0.25).
Only a mini-formal written report is required (with more results needed for higher score); the text should be typed and the required figures plotted (not sketched) using appropriate computer software. The report should be clear, neat, and complete enough so that a typical thermal-fluid ME graduate student can easily understand it at any future point in time. Make sure to address all important items listed in the attached grade sheet.
