Overview
Looking at the Needs and Resources of Fawkner develop a Community Action Plan as Part of a Community Development Strategy. You can use the existing community programs or you can suggest new ones to meet current gaps or a mixture of both.
Details
Using the nominated place-based community as a case study, develop a community development strategy to build community harmony and resilience.
Current programs will be presented in class and a Local Needs Analysis will be discussed in class.
Instructions
- Look at the Census Data for Fawkner
- Look at a Needs Analysis for Fawkner
- Map out the local services and resources
- Set up a mechanism to coordinate and establish a local Action Plan
- You can use existing programs and suggest new programs to meet gaps in the local community.
Assessment Criteria
- Analyse key theoretical and practical frameworks on social inclusion, advocacy and social capital;
- Appraise structural, systemic, and political frameworks of fractured and dysfunctional communities;
- Critically review a broad range of community programs, actions and strategies;
- Assess the suitability of community development program responses;
- Assess the role of community justice programs in reducing recidivism amongst disadvantaged communities;
- Exhibit reflective skills in writing.
