For this assessment I would like to write up to 2000 words about anemerging clinical trial using a cancer vaccinein the style of a popular science magazine article such as New Scientist or Science Focus. The article should be suitable for a broad scientific audience and contain at least 1 schematic or figure to accompany the main text of your article.
You might want to think about including information such as the form of cancer being targeted, what the vaccine contains and its mechanism of action. You will be able to use all of your knowledge from this course and previous modules in this masters to write an engaging article.
Below are some examples of the style of article you will be required to write:
Example 1 BBC Science Focus article titled Is a Cancer Vaccine on the horizon?. Published: 13 December 2018
Example 2 BBC Science Focus article titled Revolutionary cancer vaccine trials inspired by COVID jab begin. Published 3 September 2021
Example articles can also be found in New Scientist magazine. To access this magazine through the university library you can search for New Scientist on DiscoverEd and navigate to the magazine website by clicking on Miscellaneous Ejournals.
Some examples of recent articles that we recommend include:
Drug that cuts breast cancer risk set for wider use in UK New Scientist published 7 November 2023
Potential new medicine can target proteins on cancer cell surfaces New Scientist published 25 September 2023
Please feel free to browse through the magazine and find articles that interest you, the above examples are just intended to demonstrate the type of content and structure that are common amongst popular science articles.
