Introduction

To obtain and interpret information about the physical health status of patients requires you to incorporate many different types of evidence and nursing skills. The ability to assess a person’s health status includes being able to interpret signs and symptoms and to determine variations in health status. It also requires you recognise and refer potentially serious issues in line with organisation requirements. These skills build on your foundational nursing knowledge and skills and will enable you to contribute to the planning of nursing care within the delegated responsibilities of an Enrolled Nurse.

Summary

You will have two (2) attempts to complete the assessment quiz. The quiz has 18 questions related to the knowledge you have developed in this unit of competency. Please refer to your learning resources for the knowledge you will require to successfully complete this assessment.

To complete the assessment, you must respond to the multiple choice/ quiz and short answer questions in the assessment. All questions must be attempted. When responding to the questions, you should pay attention to the entire question being asked. You should use the correct medical terminology when answering all questions

I: Arthur Charleston is a 52 year-old Aboriginal Wiradjuri man. Birth date 7/04/1972. MRN 1020304

S: Arthur presented to the Emergency Department today following a fall at his home. Arthur has a contusion above his left eye and shows some disorientation to person, place and time and currently has a GCS of 12. Pupils are equal and reactive to light and Motor function is equal on both sides in his legs and arms

B: Arthur has a history of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus and Hypertension. Arthur lives on his own and smokes 20  cigarettes a day.
