WAN 1: Complete this table for WAN 1

Scope of the work

Outline the details of the work as relevant to determining WAN needs. As a minimum this must include:

  • business details
  • summary of requirements
  • current and future operational requirements as relevant to the wan
  • budget limitations

stakeholders involved.

Legislation, codes, regulations and standards

Provide an example of each that you must adhere to whilst completing your work in regard to determining the best-fit topologies for wide area networks. Explain how each example you provide applies to your work.

Site access

Draft an email that could be sent to a client to organise site access.

Segmentation

Based on the business’ needs, outline their network segmentation needs. As a minimum your segmentation analysis should also include different LAN, WLAN and VPN segments of the proposed WAN.

Your segmentation analysis will be best supported by visuals i.e. a map showing each segment.

Attach this to your Portfolio.

Estimation

You are to provide an estimation of the traffic content, volumes and usage. Provide any screenshots of monitoring you undertakes to inform this.

If you are completing this in your RTO, complete your estimation using a network monitoring tool on your RTOs network (physical or simulated). You will do this three times as part of determining best-fit topologies for three different WANs. This will give you data on three occasions and therefore a better idea of needs. You can assume the data collected is relevant to each of the simulated enterprises and use it to provide your final WAN specification in the next section of your Portfolio.
