Introduction

In our working environment, an individual incorporates cultural attitudes until he or she believes them to be entirely personal, effective communication has a very crucial role in this. The main goal of this analysis is to assess how I respond to communication in the study, with a focus on developing a positive attitude towards cultural biases and understanding the strengths as well as the weaknesses of the professional environment. By reviewing and implementing such matters help ourselves to create an attitude to make a collaboration in our team for achieving a holistic goal.

Communication Strength

In the interdisciplinary team meeting scenario, through collaborating with her effectively and showing empathy was considered as my communication strength. By offering help for Kirra was considered as one of the approaches. That is why during the group planning task for National Sorry day, I have decided to build trust and integrate diverse viewpoints to make a cohesive and innovative approach for her. Through this communication I will be able to achieve a positive outcome in the workplace.

Communication Weakness

In this scenario I did find difficulty when it always comes to addressing the potential cultural biases. I have seen that during the time of National Sorry day the discussion board was planning tasks without Kiarra knowledge where I chose to be quiet instead of questioning them. This shows an unfair task allocation in the team and lack of assertiveness and confidence which can lead to inequity in the team and regress in the working environment causing failure.

Communication BiasesIn the scenario, cultural biases were very prominent during the discussion period and task allocation, especially during the time of planning National Sorry day which can cause a significant role in shaping cultural background among the team. These kinds of potential cultural biases may cause predispositions and stereotypes among the members. Decision they made might reflect an assumption that Kirra, due to her cultural background, is better suited for this task. Such activity can create a huge impact on those people, unconsciously by avoiding their skills as well as talent and being singled out based on their background.

Marginalization will be one of the initial problems the group will suffer due to such cultural biases. People like Kirra will be facing barriers in achieving desired outcomes which can have impacts in job satisfaction, team dynamics and productivity of the working environment. Understanding these impacts is crucial for developing strategies to mitigate the negative consequences of marginalization.

As a new employee, I initially chose to remain quiet and observe, which helped me analyse the hierarchical structures and cultural sensitivity among the team. However, this silence can be interpreted as a factor contributing to homogeneity. A more effective approach is to understand the root cause, confidently start a respectful conversation, and question why tasks are assigned. This makes decision-making more inclusive. Encouraging open dialogue fosters a culture where everyone feels comfortable sharing their thoughts. Regularly seeking feedback from team members helps improve processes, while being transparent about decision-making builds trust. Promoting diversity by including different perspectives enhances creativity and problem-solving.

Analysing this scenario, I recognize the importance of addressing cultural biases directly and constructively. It is essential to foster a team to make each and every member valued, respected and understood by conducting education as well as training sessions, encouraging open dialogue and also becoming an example among the team to motivate others.

In future interactions, I will be aiming to prepare myself to become proactive, in addressing this issue and advocating for fairness through self-reflection and contributing my views, gradually making things in my view points of equality which should be clear and understanding for everyone. Through open communication, equally balanced participation, dividing into smaller settings can feel less intimidating and has a chance to create an active involvement in decision making.

Communication as a professional

In the interdisciplinary team meeting scenario, my way of communication was achieved through surrounding observation and active listening. As a new member of the team, I initially chose to remain quiet to identify the way of discussion happening among the team members as well as organizational efficiency. This approach allowed me to gather the context and insight, which are critical for informed and respectful communication in a professional setting.

However, reflecting on this, my responsibility is to become a fair member and to become a role model for others when it comes to teamwork. When I overheard the group assigning all tasks for National Sorry day to Kirra without discussion, my professional duty was to question this decision respectfully. By not addressing it immediately, I missed an opportunity to promote a more equitable distribution of tasks and to challenge potential biases.

A more professional approach would involve voicing my concerns in a non-confrontational manner. For instance, I could have enquired about why such discussion is happening, not immediately but soon by choosing the appropriate time and circumstances in an open-ended question. Then I will be providing a suggestion for collaborative planning which helps myself to demonstrate my commitment to fairness and inclusivity which were considered as a key value in the communication.

In the future situations, I plan to balance the observation with proactive engagement. To treat every co-worker fairly, it is very important to voice our concerns in a non-confrontational manner to foster a positive change. This helps us to maintain equality in the team while focusing on the skills and talents. This involves using assertive yet respectful communication strategies, actively listening to others, and encouraging open communications.

By improving these aspects of communication, I can not only end such stigma and strengthen the professional relationships to reach a productive working environment.

Conclusion

Effective communication in the healthcare setting is essential for promoting safety, collaboration and inclusivity. This analysis highlighted my communication strengths, such as active participation and supportive approach as well as areas for improvement, including addressing cultural biases and being more assertive. Intentional efforts and commitments are required to recognise and challenge cultural biases. Professional communication involves creating a balance in the engagement to ensure equality without using the term called cultural background. By improving these communicative skills, I am able to achieve an organization culture where diversity is valued and leveraged for success.
