Individual Report Steps
This option is available to all students. Even if you participated in the SDG Challenge if you wish to do this option it is allowed. Use appropriate visuals, such as charts or graphs, to present the data and make your findings more engaging.
Step 1:Choose an industry
Select three organisations that are engaged in manufacturing operations. It could include a companies you are familiar with, or an industry sector you want to explore.
Step 2: Collect Data
Conduct research and collect data on Scope 3 emissions for the chosen organisations/industry. Consider the various categories of Scope 3 emissions, such as purchased goods and services, transportation and distribution, business travel, employee commuting, and waste.
Usecredible sources, including company reports, sustainability reports, industry publications, and relevant databases, to gather accurate and comprehensive data.
Step 3: Data Analysis
Analyse the collected Scope 3 data and identify the major emission sources and hotspots within the value chain. Consider the significance of each emission category and its contribution to the organisation's overall carbon footprint.
Assess the relevance of the data in terms of environmental impact and potential for improvement.
Step 4: Scope 3 reporting evaluation
Evaluate the organisation's Scope 3 reporting practices. Assess the transparency, comprehensiveness, and accuracy of the disclosed Scope 3 emissions data.
Consider the presence of reduction targets, initiatives to engage suppliers and customers, and the overall effectiveness of the reporting in addressing environmental impact beyond organisational boundaries.
Step 5: Recommendations
Based on your analysis and evaluation, provide recommendations on how the organisation or industry can enhance their Scope 3 reporting and address the identified emission hotspots.
Consider strategies for collaboration with suppliers and customers, setting reduction targets, and implementing sustainable practices within the value chain.
