Positives of Immunisation
Student name
Vaccines grant the individual immunity from diseases which can cause death (Andre et. al., 2008)
Long term protection against diseases that are vaccinated against and lessened symptoms as the body already has the necessary floorplan to be able to fight off infections (Andre et. al., 2008, Quintin et al., 2014)
Herd immunity can prevent those who are vulnerable but cant get immunised from contracting disease (Mallory et al., 2018)
The discovery and development of immunisation has been significant to public health and has provided numerous benefits. Perhaps the greatest benefit immunisation offers is the individual immunity from diseases which would have otherwise resulted in death (Andre et. al., 2008). When a high percentage of individuals in a community are immunised against a certain disease, for example measles, even the reintroduction of said disease does not result in widespread infection and illness as the individuals in the community are immune, which means that the population are protected from the transmission and effects of the pathogen provided group immunity remains above 95% (Andre et. al., 2008). This can also be described as herd immunity; vulnerable members of a population may not be able to get vaccinated as it could pose health risks, however, as the majority are immunised it is harder for the disease to be passed amongst individuals and as such is hugely beneficial to the population as a whole (Mallory et al., 2018). Resistance against virulent diseases has resulted in once deadly diseases being eradicated from modern society i.e. smallpox (Andre et. al., 2008). Even in instances where a disease is unable to be fully eradicated, the benefits of being immunised against a particular disease is beneficial to the individuals immune response. As the body has already been introduced to the pathogen it is able to produce an appropriate immune response to fight off the pathogen more quickly and effectively due to the immune memory of the t-cells (Quintin et al., 2014). This results in symptoms presenting less severely and for a shorter period of time than in an individual who is unvaccinated, providing greater overall comfort when ill (Quintin et al., 2014).

-220345193675Participation:
Participation by group members will be evaluated based on contributions recorded on the Progress Report on the wiki page and in the final assessment documentation. The Progress Report must provide a record of the names of students who participated in any communications, decisions made, and tasks completed as well as plans for tasks to be completed for the next meeting. No alterations should be made once the Progress Report has been completed during the meetings (do not clear or alter posts made by another student). Do not include names of students who did not communicate, contribute or participate in the meetings. Groups can decide on the best method of communicating off the wiki page between meetings (record details during the next meeting on the Progress Report).
Important to note:
Group members who do not regularly contribute to the group assessment will be removed from the group. Since this is a group assessment, it is unfair if all group members do not contribute their fair share.
If a group member fails to complete an important part of the documentation or infographic, it is the responsibility of the remaining group members to complete the missing sections to ensure that the assessment submission is complete.
